Geographic location

Town Hall Square in Marciac

In the heart of the South West of France, with the Pyrenees to the south and the Atlantic Ocean to the west, the Gers is proud of its privileged way of life.

Homeland of d’Artagnan, armagnac and good food, the Gers’ mild climate and distinctive regional architecture attract the discerning traveller.

Marciac was founded as a fortified town at the end of the 13th century (in 1298). It is in a privileged location, being only 120 kilometres (80 miles) from Toulouse, 60 kms (40 m) from Pau, 45 kms (30 m) from Tarbes, 180 kms (120 m) from the Atlantic coast and 100 kms (60 m) from the Pyrenees.

Marciac is well-known for its international jazz festival, JAZZ IN MARCIAC, which transforms the village in the first half of August.
